Pinot blanc is an old French grape variety from the Pinot family, native to Burgundy. It is also grown in Germany, Austria, Croatia, Slovakia and the USA. It is a relatively early variety. In Slovenia, it is cultivated in all three vine-growing regions. The wine has a light yellow colour, which turns a golden hue with age. There are traces of fresh fruit in the aroma, as well as quince and caramel in many vintages. Because of lower total acids, it has a mild flavour.
