Sparkling Wine Crystal

Crystal sparkling wine will captivate you from the first moment with its gentle and elegant presence, accompanied by a lively yet refined freshness typical of the best sparkling wines from cooler wine-growing regions. In a glass, its inviting and complex aromatic aroma unfolds, dominated by juicy notes of vineyard peach, complemented by the delicate sweetness of vanilla sponge cake. The bubbles are tiny and persistent, which further emphasises the sense of sophistication and purity of expression.

The taste of the sparkling wine continues its seductive story. The structure is delicate, yet full, with just the right amount of freshness and softness. The vanilla sponge cake is once more expressed in the background, this time even more rounded, with a nicely supported note of ripe pear, which adds juiciness and a fine finish to the sparkling wine. It all adds up to an exceptionally balanced aftertaste that lingers on the palate for a long time, inviting you to take the next sip.

Culinary accompaniment
Because of its tenderness, elegance and harmoniously intertwined fruity and sponge cake notes, this sparkling wine perfectly accompanies many dishes. It is excellent as an aperitif, especially together with light appetisers such as fresh goat cheese, white fish carpaccio, or fine prosciutto. With its aromatic breadth, it also beautifully rounds off dishes with poultry, lightly smoked fish, and pasta in a delicate cream sauce.

For a sweeter finish, it can be served with sponge cakes with vanilla cream or pears, where the fruity-sponge notes of the sparkling wine subtly combine with the dessert.

Serving
We recommend serving the sparkling wine at a temperature between 6 and 8 °C, in slightly open sparkling wine glasses, which allow the aromas to develop and emphasise its elegant structure.

— DIPL. ARCH. DUŠAN SAMEC

Crystal sparkling wine is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of architect, designer and researcher Samec Dušan (1925–2010).

As the grandson of Josip Mursa and grandfather of the owner of the MARO Wine Cellar – Maša Samec, he ensured the denationalisation of the Mursa estate.

During his professional career, he gained experience in master classes by Jože Plečnik and seminars by Edo Ravnikar and Edo Mihevc, becoming a collaborator with Stanko Bloudek. He graduated with the realisation of the ‘Yugo Pavilion’ in Izmir, Turkey. The research on Macedonian and Bosnian houses under the leadership of Prof. Dušan Grabrijan was successfully presented in the book Makedonska hiša (Macedonian house). In Sarajevo, he worked closely with academic and architect Juraj Neidhardt, an outstanding urban planner, collaborator and assistant of the famous Le Corbusier in Paris.

Although he always followed his own path, his teachers nevertheless influenced his architectural views. Since 1963, he worked as an independent architect, urban planner, designer and researcher. He realised many projects that were always unique, progressive, and functional. His expertise as a designer went beyond aesthetics and always followed innovative usability and global competitive principles. In the industrial sector, his solutions designed in the Tigris production programme allowed Unior from Zreče to penetrate markets of 72 countries around the world. His granite opus of monuments is a kind of solid architectural open-air museum in Slovenia, in which he developed his own artistic language between the cross and the fist.

He was an architect with a great architectural legacy.

For Dušan Samec, crystals – which he passionately collected and on which he built his challenging theses related to the natural law of harmony – have always been a hobby and a serious challenge at the same time. He summarised his findings in the research project Modul in proporc v arhitekturi (Module and Proportion in Architecture).

Crystal represents purity, strength, and is geometrically perfect, unforgettable. We hope the taste of Crystal sparkling wine, the first and also the anniversary sparkling wine of the MARO Wine Cellar, remains with you forever, unforgettable.
